Using our Schema!

Since the meta-cognition lesson went so well last week I was excited to teach my students all about Schema this week....
I did the "lint roller" lesson from the book Comprehension Connections, and used Holly's freebie! You can see my schema at the top, I wrote down things about me on little pieces of paper then picked them up with the lint roller, it's like our brain that has all this stuff stuck in it that changes how we look at things!! The students used the Schema roller papers to write their schema on then we added them to our anchor chart (again I'm loving this book)!!

We also did the 5 minute Schema determiner, we wrote everything we know about brothers and sisters, (we all had at least one) in one minute. Then we tried to write about Ohio for one minute, we didn't know much! What a difference a little schema makes!

I don't know about any of you but things are still incredibly busy around my house! Having an extra day off did nothing to slow us down!! I am working as fast as I can on the last few requests for binder and then I'm moving on!! Hope to have some new products up for you all soon, but the house must get cleaned first, LOL! Happy almost Friday!!!

  5. I had just finished doing the schema determinator with my class this morning when I saw your blog about it on my break. I love the schema roller picture for the students to fill in. Thanks for the idea!
