I'm not usually big on Valentine's day but this year my husband and I will celebrate our 16th anniversary (not on valentine's day) and somehow it just seems like it's a little more special, so I'm linking up with Chrissy at Buzzing with Mrs. B to tell you all how I met my honey!!
I met my husband three weeks before my 16th birthday! It's a crazy complicated story but I'll try to tell it as shortly as possible :) My own parents were having marital issues and my mom decided to take us kids and leave our home - we went to live with my Grandma. Moving meant a lot of changes including attending a new church. My mom had a co-worker that kept inviting her to his church so she decided that was were we would go. Her co-worker had a son who attended church with him - yep that was my future husband!! When we first met we were not thinking relationship at all but over the next few weeks we were hanging out a lot (in the youth group with a lot of other kids) and for my 16th birthday he bought me a card. It was sweet, and we started to talk more directly. His birthday was one week after mine (he was turning 20) and his parents invited my mother and I to their home for cake and ice cream. We were defiantly "liking" each other by now. Shortly after his birthday he asked me to go to a basketball game with him and on the way home asked me to "go out with him." I was a little shocked and didn't know for sure what he had just asked, but finally processed it! We only dated for 6 months before getting married (yep I was still 16) and we are going to be married 16 years this may! I've been married for half my life!! It was not easy but it's been worth it in the long run, I defiantly tell my kids that there is no way I am letting them get married at 16! We just thank God we made it and know it's only by his grace!! Here are a couple pics of us then and now!
